Soft Skills

  Interview糗事

  Son and Daughter

  今天下午的PWC(普化永道)面试晕了。

How lovely your son is (你儿子很可爱啊)

  他说了一句,我立马倒下:She is my daughter.

  我只好自圆其说:Like a son.

  Am I unreasonable﹖

What can I do for you﹖

  我说:I’m nervous.

Am I unreasonable﹖(不通情达理,不正常﹖)

  PWC&KPMG

Have you applied the other 3 and why do you choose KPMG﹖ (申请过四大的其他三家吗?

No,I only applied KPWC no PMG sorry KPMG……..(没有,我只申请了KPWC,不是PMG,抱歉是KPMG。)

(The first round English interview)的机会,预示着你梦想的职位正向你招手,这轮面试的分量可想而知,所以你应该确保在面试中发挥最佳状态。

  Self-Introduction

  Personal Statement

  There be I believe

  From:请假人

  Date:

  Subject:

  To: Peter Stone, Manager

  From: Lynn Chen, Financial Department

  Date: April 2nd, 2004

  Subject: Casual Leave of Absence

Peter, I would like to know if I could ask for a casual leave of absence for one day on April 4th, this Wednesday.

This morning I received a telephone call from my dentist, urging me to come to his practice for immediate treatment of my teeth. I have been experiencing a stinging pain, depriving me of my sleep during the past fortnight. The situation could worsen, should infection occur.

Concerning my workload: As Wednesday is not as busy as the other weekdays, I think a one-day leave this Wednesday may be the best solution. I apologize for the inconvenience my absence from work may cause.

Thanks. I will call you at 1:30p.m. or you can call me at any time.

Wouldn't it be possible for me to take the day off this Friday?

请休假用takethe day off。

  2.提议

I think we need to buy a new copier.(我想我们需要买一台新的复印机)

说出上句之前,必须说明our copying machine has broken down again.(复印机又出毛病了)以作为提案的依据。 I would suggest we buy a new copoer.

  Yes, of course.(是,我知道了)

也可用I understand(我明白了),或Yes, right away(好的马上去做),对上司说OK,或 all right并不恰当。 I'm sorry, but I'm busy now. Could I do it later?

You did say next Tuesday at 2:00 P.M., didn't you?(您是说在下星期二下午2点,是不是?)

I had a feeling he was in favor of the plan.(我觉得他赞成那个计划)

记住I have a feeling (that)……(我觉得……),及……(that ) he was against the plan.(他反对那个计划)这两句话都很管用

"work experience" is the type of work you've done in the past. If you haven't started working yet you can say "Right now I'm still a student." or "I'm a recent grad and I haven't started working yet." In the second sentence, "recent grad" is short for "recent graduate" and means that you have just finished school.

Right now I'm still a student."(现在我还是个学生。) I'm a recent grad and I haven't started working yet."(我刚刚毕业,还没有开始工作。)"

Second One: What's your greatest weakness?

This is a popular question that western employers like to ask to make candidates nervous! In fact, they ask this to know how you respond to a difficult question. You shouldn't answer by telling your greatest weakness since you might not get the job! Instead, you can tell them something that isn't directly related to the job position.

Third One: Why do you feel you are qualified for this job?

This question is a good opportunity to brag a little bit. You should talk about some extra skills you have that maybe wasn't included in your resume, or talk about your greatest strength in more detail.

Fourth One: What kind of salary did you have in mind?

Salary is how much money you earn, usually per year. When asked this, it's best to answer with a salary range or approximation and not an exact figure. This shows that you are familiar with the industry if you know what the approximate salary should be.

Fifth One: If hired, when could you start work?

When answering this it's best not to say you can start right away. This might make you seem very desperate for a job. A safe answer would be "I can start at the beginning of next month."

I can start at the beginning of next month."(我下月初可以开始上班。)

Sixth One: What kind of work does the posi-tion involve?

You can ask this to clarify exactly what kind of work you'll be doing.

  2.″What is your greatest weakness﹖″

You cannot avoid this question by saying that you do not have any everyone has weaknesses. The best approach is to admit your weakness but show that you are working on it and have a plan to overcome it. If possible cite a weakness that will work to the company's advantage. ″I' m such a perfectionist that I won't stop until a job is well done. ″

  1. ″What can you tell me about yourself﹖″ This is not an invitation to give your life history. The interviewer is looking for clues about your character, qualifications, ambitions and motivations. The following is a good example of a positive response. ″In high school I was involved in competitive sports and I always tried to improve in each sport I participated in. As a college student I worked in a clothing store part-time and found that I could sell things easily. The sale was important but for me it was even more important to make sure that the customer was satisfied. It was not long before customers came back to the store and specifically asked for me to help them. I'm very competitive and it means a lot to me to be the best.″


  Dear manager,

I learned from the newspaper that your company wanted to hire an English translator.

I'm interested in this job very much. I'd like to get this job.

Now I'd like to introduce myself to you. My name is Li Ping. I'm 30 years old. I'm 180 cm tall. I'm healthy. I like swimming, singing and dancing in my spare time. I graduated from Beijing University in 1994.Then,I went to work in Nantong Middle School. In 1996,I began to work in Suzhou Middle School and I have worked there until now.

I work hard and I can get along well with others. I'm good at English and especially my spoken English is very good. I've translated many Chinese books into English. I can understand Japanese and I can talk to foreigners in Japanese freely.

If you agree with me, I'll work hard and try to be a good translator.

If you agree with me, please write a letter to me or phone me. I live at No.1 Renmin Road, Suzhou city. My telephone number is 3654371.

  Thank you very much.

  Yours Truly

  LiPing
